Having moved to Paris for university, Leevi returns to his native Finland for the summer to help his estranged father renovate the family lake house so it can be sold. Tareq, a recent asylum seeker from Syria, has been hired to help with the work, and when Leevi's father has to return to town on business, the two young men establish a connection and spend a few days discovering one another during the Finnish midsummer.

Superficial romance feels like more of a valiant attempt at queer representation, (never a bad thing), but writer-director Makela seems to have forgotten to craft a compelling drama; soporific at times because there is little conflict and no effort to flesh out some of the potentially interesting aspects of the characters (Tareq's status as asylum seeker is brushed against but ultimately ignored). Sadly a bit of a well intentioned snooze, despite evocative camerawork and fine performances.

A softcore porn romance, with a porn plot. The affair is shown as somewhat innocent despite the strong power imbalance between the two main characters.
