Romance, Comedy
1h 29m
Evie's co-workers at the uniform shirt factory, and her almost-fiancée's inability to kiss, inspire her to slip a letter into a size sixteen-and-a-half shirt for some anonymous soldier. It's received by "Wolf" Larson, who immediately throws it away, but his sensitive, dreaming--and short--buddy John McPherson snags it, and begins a correspondence with Evie, pretending to be Wolf. But things get complicated when Evie wants to meet her tall, handsome soldier. (imdb)

Sweet role for Marsha Hunt, getting two suitors. One hunk of a man (John Carroll), and a little dweeb (Hume Cronyn) that's good with words. The thing is that Hunt think's it's the handsome one that's writing her those romantic letters, and so starts the confusing courtship. Entertaining, especially at the start. Doesn't quite hit the same level of fun during the latter half, but it was always a delight.

This really light take on "Cyrano de Bergerac" isn't up there with Dassin's best flicks, but it's an engaging romantic comedies with great performances from Hunt and Cronyn.
