A very good humanistic love story, that neither condemns its protagonist nor commends them. It shows very realistic the different stages in a relationship, from the rosy crush to the troubles of newly weds figuring out how to live together.

Classic kitchen sink drama of the early 1960's. Interesting for the changing social norms and mores but some of the emotions still hold true.

Realist romance dramas are rare and this is an excellent one by John Schlesinger. Great script and superb performances. Within the British 'kitchen sink' phenomenon of that era, I would dub this one essential viewing.
