I'm reminded of an old line about it being nice to see an Irish film that isn't about Ireland. The story is simple enough but well told, and held together by a powerful performance from Seána Kerslake.

A Date for Mad Mary is a charming Irish comedy about recently released prisoner Mary's quest to find a date for her best friends wedding. My only complaint about Mad Mary is that the Drogheda depicted seems to be entirely populated by Dubliners. Apparently, the Drogheda accent was a little too complex.
