I think we should bring back Jean Shepherd. Kids will want to hear the original adult Ralphie. I keep telling you: he's 101 years old, and he's dead!!

This movie puts forth a good effort but it does not match the humor, charm and originality of the first classic A Christmas Story. The cast mostly does a good job here. Overall this film is disappointing.

I think this was better than it could have been. A lot of decades-later sequels fall into the trap of just trying to be a recreation of what the original did, copying the same story elements and jokes. This one felt more like a natural sequel to the original, that kept the tone of the original but had its own story. That being said, it's still not the classic that the original was, so I don't expect me rewatching this, even though I think they handled it well.

The original is a stone-cold perennial classic. This is...kinda shoddy. With some funny and touching moments.

Has a different tone than the original film, but still is able to pay loving tribute to the source material.

A sweet and loving tribute to the original film and to the generational stress of the holidays. I just wish it had a bigger budget. Also might've worked the same as a modern story without the ACS connection--none of the characters look, dress, or talk like '70s people.

He seems to be remembering an entirely different dad from the original

Captures the heart of the original while maintaining some freshness to the typical Christmasy trope

There are worse ways to spend your time, but it’s an unnecessary movie. Nothing is added to the story, but you’ll get some references and recreations of things from the first movie, if that’s your primary expectation.

This is the end result of an entire generation who still thinks they're children.

I had pretty low expectations for this sequel, and I was shockingly suprised how good it is. Do yourself a favor and watch. Of course, if you haven't seen A Christmas Story, watch that one first.

The sentimentality was there, but it's hard to envision Julie Hagerty in the role perfected by Melinda Dillon - they're just too different. Also, not enough puke.

It had some big shoes to fill, so it wasn't going to be as good as the original. But it was entertaining, great to see most of the cast back, and had a few good moments.

Christmas Story was never some big tradition in my house growing up and I’ve only seen it a few times, but this seemed to me like an entirely respectful follow up that tries to pretty faithfully recreate the tone and feel and vibe of the original. Cheesy in mostly pretty likable ways. Grown up Ralphie has a ridiculously smooth deep and rich voice, dude should be narrating audiobooks.
