I found A Bell for Adano (1945) attractive, but there no denying the story could have been handled better and that the romantics was surplus in this World War II story. Not one you'd watch for Gene Tierney, but it was a good one for John Hodiak as a American officer in charge of controlling a war damaged Italian town. Shows the corruptive nature of the local officials and general moral issues. Henry King does a splendid job of shooting the film. Just wish the story has more firmly handled.
