The reaction from the audience shouldn't be joy and laughter during a 9/11 film about a barely comprehensible Luis Guzman and Charlie "dripping with AIDS" Sheen trapped in an elevator with other nonsense. Whoopi Goldberg is of course in this and sports an Afro that would make Jeff Lynne blush. If I was trapped in an elevator with a rag tag group of people a Harold Pinter play wouldn't suddenly break out it would be stilted small talk and trying not to fart right away.

If a movie about 9/11 starring Whoopi Goldberg and an AIDS-riddled Charlie Sheen didn't indicate the level of quality you were expecting to see, then may God drop a tower on you, sir! This is equivalent to something like the Room. I'm almost certain Tommy Wiseau's hand was somewhere at play in the making of this. I hereby endorse that you see "9/11", a Sprockefeller Production, Directed by Martin Guigui, as soon as possible!

How Charlie Sheen ended up in a movie about 9/11 I do not know. It's a watchable movie but by absolutely no means captures the true horrific reality of the event. Feels like a disingenuous attempt to cash in on the tragedy which doesn't sit right with me. The occasional somewhat exciting moment but really a movie I'd recommend steering clear of.

The events of that tragic September day were incredibly horrific, no question. We deal with the event's aftermath still. But that day also revealed many a hero--some who lived, some who died, and some who fought the evil that caused it. Many of those stories have been dramatized on film and television. Many filmmakers have documented the horrors and heroes we saw that day. And many--even many that are difficult to watch--are worth watching. This is not one of them.
