Love to see how much modern punk/hardcore aesthetic is ripped from this era of street culture. Great doc. Love that the filmmaker allows himself to be questioned during the filming as well by the people he is examining

Gary Weis, best known for his short films on SNL and for directing "The Rutles", shot this documentary in 1979, going to the South Bronx and getting some very candid interviews with members of the street gangs The Savage Nomads and The Savage Skulls. It's a pretty vivid portrait of NYC at the peek of its late-70's decay. At barely over an hour in length, it's still a bit too long since there's not much to say outside noting how little hope for a future these kids have.
