Characterisation and dialogue are a little weak (not easy to turn politicians and terrorists into plausible human beings), but a bit better than its reputation. The use of dance is good and it is unusual that the raid itself only takes up a small amount of the running time. Watching less than two months after 7 October 2023, the issues probably resonate more strongly than when the film was released. I don’t think I realised previously that the only Israeli soldier killed was Netanyahu’s brother.

It was good, but I didn't understand the purpose of the dance troupe side-story. Especially during the climax of the film, when it became very distracting.

It fails both as political drama and action thriller. What's up with that climax mixing the raid with contemporary dancing spectacle?

The movie does a good job displaying the events of 7 Days in Entebbe. I definitely recommend this movie, and absolutely love Rosamund Pike's performance.

With Filmmaking talent like Padilha directing, Burke screenwriting, a cast of great character actors (eddie marsan, lior ashkenazi, denis menochet and brontis jodorowsky) you could expect more than is delivered. For the most part a bland political thriller with a lot of wasted elements and untapped potential. After the raid on Entebbe that film slaps it's message to contemporary audiences (2018) : "if we don't negotiate with our enemies, war is eternal". No shit.

Interesting history but I'm almost certain I've seen this done before in a much better film.

Oddly enough had just finished "Memoirs of a Jewish Radical" before seeing this and you kind of understand where the hijackers are coming from when reading that book.

The whole dance subplot really pays off in the end because the raid synced up with the dance recital was one of the best sequences in the whole film. It was a pretty standard highjack film outside of that.

The dance sequences were sort of shocking interjection, but I guess that was the point. It's been criticized for portraying Brühl's character in something of a positive light. But according to a hostage witness, it actually happened like that at the end, which is important. I don't know how this history could be called bland.

Just a bland hijacking film. There is nothing that stands out good or bad which I guess is a negative.
