I looked up this title on Wikipedia, and it turns out they're making a sequel called '48 meters down'. That's when it hit me: This movie just lacked that extra meter in building the tension and suspence to be a true underwater masterpiece. So hyped for the next one...

I suppose the purpose of horror movies is to disturb the viewer, but this one somehow managed to be extremely (and in fact laboriously) unpleasant and stressful without really being any good. The double ending was particularly ill advised. Of the recent shark movies, I prefer both "The Reef" and "The Shallows".

If Jaws is caviar and The Shallows is a salmon steak, 47 Meters Down is a Fish-O-Filet, but it goes down easily enough. (The Meg is chum)

The big mistake made by everyone who ever died of anything but old age was forgetting to say "I'm not going to die down here." (Or some relevant variation thereof.) As long as you remember to say that, you'll be just fine.

Ever heard of Claire Holt? Me neither. That's why Mandy Moore is the one with the modest swimwear.

the direction is actually good sometimes and makes it better than many other movies of the genre, but these shark films are just so tiring tbh.

All the pieces seem to be in place for an effective claustrophobic horror film; Moore and Holt are likable leads and Roberts has a good knack of capturing the unpleasant tension underwater. But the screenplay is such a silly contrivance, especially the maddeningly stupid behavior of the sisters, that it makes the underwater scenes difficult to accept as "realistic" in any way, weakening their effectiveness as horror setpieces. A confusing and flaccid finale doesn't help matters.

When needing to rely on ADR and frantic bubbles for nearly all of your narrative, the dialogue has to be better than, "It's a shark," "speargun," and "breath!" Claustrophobic but forgettable.

Hard to watch as a scuba diver, but undeniably entertaining stupidity. Weak acting performances but watching people get eaten by sharks is always fun, even if it's not a particularly good movie.

The middle third is rather intense. The rest is boring plot hole territory.

In the end, though, their heroism doesn't guarantee a happy ending. And it certainly doesn't save a movie that will plunge as quickly into the depths of movie history as Lisa and Kate's decrepit cage does after its rusty cable snaps.

A shark attack that offers some tense moments, but underdelivers on fun shark gruesome attacks. It passes the time but it's pretty forgettable.

What I learned from this movie - if you scream and push really hard you can get out of any situation, with the screaming being the most important part.

This movie had serious potential. It's nice to look at and most importantly, it's scary at times. What brings it down is a seriously insulting and pointless twist ending.

47 Meters Down gets saved from being a total waste of time by offering a few good thrills, everything else is uh...not very good.

Much better than I thought it would be and much better than the Shallows. The acting from the two leads ranged from quite good too pretty bad. I liked the ending and found the whole thing to be pretty tense and entertaining with a few good jump scares.

Ya know, it's actually not too bad. While I could've done with more character development at the beginning (I didn't really care for the blond sister), and perhaps a slight aftermath/epilogue, I was entertained. I 100% called a certain something before it happened, but it was done well and I like how it ended so I can't really complain. Overall, you could do MUCH worse for a shark movie, and since it's free on Netflix it's completely worth watching.

This film has some exciting scenes and moments. The script brings the film down especially in one instance. Overall this film is a little bit disappointing.

This is easily the greatest shark thriller since the "absurdly unrealistic" definitive blockbuster, Jaws. An adequate ranking for the movie can only be determined after tossing out every single review mentioning "unrealistic" as if it's a meaningful criticism of anything. Nitpicking: the chosen form of expression for aspiring pseudo-intellectuals everywhere. Take a look if you can tell the forest from the trees.

47 Meters is a satisfying addition to the shark horror movie genre. At moments, it becomes laughable, but it doesn't stay there long enough to be a "so bad it's good" movie. The flare scene was creative and scary. The characters are trapped at the bottom of the ocean with limited oxygen, adding another layer of tension beyond giant sharks. When other aspects of the movie were not working for me, the camera work would keep me engaged. The film was tense, and I had a great time watching t
