2019 - After the Fall of New York

Well they were kinda close.

I love Sergio Martino; The underappreciated king of B-movies.

Hate to admit it as a Carpenter fan, but this colorful silly adventure is better than Escape from New York in just about every way.

Aimless fun

Enjoyably trashy _Mad Max_/_Escape from New York_ rip. Lots of gory action keeps this derivative potboiler always on the move.

Cheesy 80's sci-fi (an obvious knock-off of Escape from New York), but watchable for fans of Troma-like, bad-effects, all-effort types of movies.

Fun from start to finish, with its own weird imaginative embellishments to the stuff it's ripping off, 2019: After the Fall of New York is a must for fans of this anything goes niche. Hell, it has enough energy, freshness and production value that fans of the real deal movies will probably even have fun with this one! Go for it!

How come when italian competent journeymen directors like Sergio Martino copy / homage Mad Max, Espace from New York and John Carpenter we get fun films like "2019- After the Fall Of New York" that inspire films like "Children Of Men". When contemporary film directors like Paul W.S. Anderson do the same we get incomprehensible mess like "Resident Evil : Retribution". Long story short : Directors like Martino had skill and craft. They could take a ridiculous concept and make it work.

It's bad, but it's better than what my score indicates. It has a certain charm to it.

Cheap Italian hybrid of Mad Max and Escape from New York, in which the hero Parsifal (lol) infiltrates the Eurak (ie bad guy) controlled island of Manhattan to rescue the last known fertile female on the planet. Some awkwardly edited car chases and brawls, a bunch of skeezy mutants with awful makeup effects and a finale that consists of a station wagon repeatedly smashing through chintzy roadblocks. Pretty crap, but also quite unintentionally funny in parts.

What can you say. An early mix between Children of Men and Escape from New York. After the atomic wars has ruined most of the planet and left women sterile. Mankind lives like out-laws in a Mad Max kinda world. When the rumor starts to spread that there is a fertile woman hidden somewhere in New York. Our hero sets out to find her. Void of the trace of high class that earlier films of Martino possess. Instead, here we have a generic ripoff more in the vein of Bruno Mattei. But that's not a bad thing.

This mash-up of influences of Mad Max 2 and Escape from New York is an Italian scifi B-movie well-done. The lower budget still shows, mostly in the clear cheap location shootings. But it is highly enjoyable and does what it has to do very well.

One of many Italo post-apocalyptic Mad Max rip-offs. There were at least five of them released in '83 alone. I watched it in 2019, and I can confirm that future predictions are wrong. Plot is uninspired Escape from New York and Mad Max 2 pastiche. It has some of that bad movie charm, and you can see there was some actual effort put in making miniatures and costumes. Just not memorable enough.
