After seeing Robert Englund hamming it up while wearing a Confederate flag eyepatch I was expecting some fun stupid modern hicksploitation trash, but I'm not sure I expected the schlock to be this stupid. However, then I discovered this was a remake, so I went to check the source material for some context. So with "Two Thousand Maniacs"(1964) and the film being an Eli Roth production in mind, the over-the-top-stupidity makes sense, however the dumb trash still felt more grating than fun.

A decently schlocky update of the old Herschell Gordon Lewis gorefest, with tons of splatter and cheesy one liners. You could do a lot worse.

so many good cameos and a decent amount of great gore scenes...the acting not the best..some of the middle kinda dragged...

Up until the pointless twist ending, actually a pretty good trashfest. Chickens out on the gore a bit too much. Don't do splatter if you won't give us the splat.

these sorts of movies explain where uwe boll gets his "magic" from. everything is far below average; the acting, the script, the only thing that's half decent is the gore. overall, this movie annoyed the shit outta me. dont get me wrong, i love horror, even low budget horror, but when its done in a right way ( see george a romero). this, like olaf ittenbach's chain reaction AKA house of blood, is a terrible movie and simply a waste of celluloid.

This is stupid. And ridiculous as it was - the "twist" in the end added up to an even more ludicrous finale...

Uncanny plot similarities to Hostel- tourists venture into a strange land and carouse with the locals, only to be brutally killed by said locals later on.That's what this felt like- a Hostel retread, with Civil War throwbacks instead of Eastern Europeans. Robert Englund went wild with his part, but there wasn't much else worth seeing in this one.

I didn't mind watching it, but I can't ignore that it is too over-the-top and cornball to be taken seriously as horror, and trying to hard to be a horror movie to be considered a comedy. I laughed some legitimately, I laughed more at the ridiculousness of it, and then chalked it up as a must see for my "Bad Horror Movie" nights.

Had potential to be decent, but ends up lacking what made Cabin Fever and Hostel so great. Has a few good moments but isn't even really worth watching.
