Paul Walker says "bro" or "brah" about every second sentence. Needless to say the dialog is ebonic trash, the plot is nothing interesting and neither is the acting. Just an attempt at riding the coat tails of the first film.

2 Fast 2 Furious…that title is disgusting, and I love it. This sequel I think perfectly blends the lower scale, but more goofy and tropey characteristics this franchise became. The Walker/Gibson duo is entertaining, and having Vin would be nice, I don't think his absence was overly noticeable. It perfectly leans into it's goofy absurdity, and I think this is where we started to see the franchise flirt with that idea. For a sequel, this took a interesting turn, and I love it.

The first sequel in the series is often debated among critics and fans as the worst. However with a sequel closer to something akin to "Bad Boys 2"(2003) more so than the original, this movie may have been the correct turn toward the over-top ridiculous car action fun the franchise is now heralded as. The nature of Hollywood sequels to just redo the basic things, but bigger and dumber only plays to the benefit of what these movies can be. Pure shlock. 2x the original: 4 cans of Axe Body SprayTM

The couple of street races are great and much better than the first’s but the rest is worse minus Tyrese Gibson who is by far the best character and you get why they brought him back. I like how it turned into Speed Racer whenever someone used nitrous. The street racer scramble was funny as hell. Pour one out for John Singleton, lover of the gear stick shot.

This film is the embodiment of 2003. From the title, to the ugly decaled cars, to Paul Walker looking like nearly every guy at the time. I like the idea that hundreds of people are attending these street races downtown, yet the cops only come at the very end.

In fact, I'm walking away from 2 Fast 2 Furious with the opposite feeling I felt on finishing The Fast and the Furious. With the first film, I was kicking myself for missing out on something special for so many years. With this film, I'm actually glad I'm late to the game, because I have five more Fast and Furious films immediately in my queue, just waiting for the binge ride to continue. Without that, I'm sure I'd give 2 Fast 2 Furious a hard thumbs down.

This has aged better than I expected - I used to think it was the weak link and Tokyo Drift was a high point, but I realize I just kinda missed Vin Diesel. When you know he's coming back anyway, you can better appreciate this as a little side adventure featuring a lot of people who you don't see enough of in the other ones. The chases are great, too, it anticipates Speed Racer's parsing of space.

Definitely a bad movie, and Singleton seems way out of his depths handling computer-generated racing sequences, but it's hardly the worst the series has to offer. That distinction still (and will probably always) belong to 2009's Fast & Furious. There are a handful of really great touches here (the bridge-jump chase, the incredibly choreographed chaos of the thousand-car finale), but mostly it's redeemed by simply introducing Tyrese and Ludacris to the series, so they could be better used later.

So yeah, the first movie in this franchise had a lot going for it, so what the sequel needed was way less emphasis on family and more outlandish action (without a sense of fun). Paul Walker and Tyrese Gibson have great chemistry - to the point where the film essentially plays as a romatic comedy more than it does a buddy cop movie. The plot is meaningless - part of the charm of the first is the fact that our heroes are thieves. Here, they're just playing for the pigs. Fun for the wrong reasons.

2 Fast 2 Furious is regarded by many as one of the worst films in the series and although it's probably not as good as the first, its still enjoyable and by no means the disaster that people brand it. Vin Diesel is absent and the film lacks his star quality, but Paul Walker does a reasonable job of carrying the film with comical sidekick Tyrese Gibson. The plot is once again minimalistic but the cars and set pieces are much better and overall 2 Fast 2 Furious is a harmless and enjoyable sequel.

2 Fast 2 Furious is definitely the weakest film of the Fast and Furious series. The driving sequences feel simultaneously slow and floaty. Where the first film (and later Tokyo Drift) was about racing as a zen ideal, a sort of automotive wu wei, 2F2F is all about how important it is to prove you have balls. The two reasons to watch this are the aggressive homoerotic subtext between Brian and Rome, and some of the most blatant castration imagery I've ever seen. Tyrese Gibson is kinda fun too.

2 Fast 2 Furious at least has a bit of a plot. That's more you can say about the last installment, but since the part with the most potential -- the car races -- is far less exciting, the film suffers quite a lot and doesn't wind up being as enjoyable as its predecessor. The soundtrack bugged me, the races were boring and didn't immerse, and the actors were boring and uninspired. If you're not a big fan of the first flick, you can probably go without seeing 2 Fast 2 Furious.

I'm still stuck on these titles. Is it Fast Fast Furious Furious (alliteration gives it verve) or Two Fast, Two Furious (picking out four prostitutes) or Too Fast to Furious (the speed negates furiousness) or To Fast? Too Furious (angry=eat) or To fast, to furious (kinda enigmatic). If my brain was faster I could decode this furious title.

While this may be one of the weakest links in the Fast series, it isn't all bad. Sure there is some real dodgy CGI and plot is mundane, but the amount of "brahs" said per minute Walker and crew is so impressive. I don't get the hate. This is waaaay better than the first. Vin "Family Man -LOL" Diesel not required. Maybe it's because Singleton had way more money, but he's got style to burn compared to Cohen & that's needed for all this car racing. Narratively this is also far more focused, w/ a cliched but straightforward Partners Who Dont Get Along Fight Drug Lord rather than a dopey Cop Falls for Poor Lil' Hoodlum tale & the Eva Mendes storyline isn't explored enough but it is unusual. Music's better 2.

I do not understand why this is rated lower by most than the first film, because it is significantly better. For example, it has a plot, and a halfway decent one at that. Sure, much of it is rehashed from old episodes of Miami Vice, but you can follow what is going on and it doesn't have more plot holes than a slice of swiss cheese as the original did. I'm not saying it's a great film but it's definitely an upgrade.

Jarringly bad early 2000's dialogue in a tepid, 1970's TV show grade plot. This is just really, really bad. I suppose they were going with some type of episodic, Kung Fu series where Paul Walker travels the country getting into car-related hijinks? Except the character isn't interesting at all to take the journey with and this stop should be skipped.

I thought this was a bit better than the 1st movie. Same idea, Cops puts Ex Cop Walker with ex con Tyrese to stop a drug operation. They actually explain why he wasn't a cop anymore which is the reason from the 1st movie. There's a girl cop working with them and while they are busting the bad guys you are wondering whether the Girl Cop is Compromised. Then the 2 buddies there female and male in the beginning of this movie get arrested to protect Walker. Same like the 1st movie.

Enjoyable actioner is really just 4-5 well executed action scenes with some incoherent plotting thrown between to tie things together and on this undemanding level it works quite well - Walker and Gibson make an endearing pair of blockish heroes, and Hauser a snarling 80s era villain. One might expect a little more distinction in Singleton's direction, but he supplies the adequate snap and pop for the car chase scenes.

I was surprised to see this one lacking Vin Diesel. There are numerous problems this time, much more egregious than the first. It feels like the script was written with one main character in mind, but changed at the last minute to make a weak attempt at a "buddy" movie where the buddies have no chemistry. But probably my biggest problem is that many of the action scenes, especially the ones that would require especially daring stunt driving, are done entirely with CGI.
