I like the film a lot. It's less focused on depicting the horrors of Pinochet's regime, but more on the attitudes of those living safe lives that allow the horrors to happen. Küppenheim is extremely good in a role that's mostly interior.

"Chile '76" examines the strength and perseverance of ordinary people against a tyrannical regime, with commendable performances by Aline Küppenheim and captivating suspense sequences directed by Manuela Martelli. However, the film lacks urgency and consistent tone, with lethargic pacing and modern aesthetics that feel out of place in the period setting. The script falls short in escalating stakes and developing characters, with the ensemble players pale in comparison to Küppenheim's performance
